Armidale: A cyclist lost their life after a car crashed into a group of riders. It’s such a heartbreaking situation.
This happened on Long Swamp Rd around 3:30 PM on Saturday. Emergency services rushed to the scene after getting reports of the crash.
Sadly, one cyclist, who hasn’t been identified yet, died right there. Three others were treated for injuries, which is just awful.
One woman in her 40s is in critical condition, according to the NSW Ambulance. It’s just so tragic to hear.
After hitting the cyclists, the car ended up crashing into a tree. Fire crews had to respond because the car caught fire later on.
The driver, a woman in her 40s, was trapped inside but was freed by first responders. She’s also in critical condition and was treated at the scene.
Police have set up a crime scene, and Long Swamp Road will be closed until Sunday while they investigate. They’re asking anyone with information or dashcam footage to reach out.
