Cumbernauld: A busy road is shut down for at least a week because of a gas leak. It all started on January 6 when the issue popped up on Blackthorn Road.

For safety reasons, they’ve closed the road between Rowan Road and Moss Road while emergency repairs are in full swing. Thankfully, the gas company SGN says no supplies are affected.

They’re working hard to fix things and get the road back open. In the meantime, drivers will need to follow the detours set up to avoid the area.

Dan Brown, a spokesperson for SGN, mentioned they’re on it. He said they’re doing emergency repairs and have closed the road for everyone’s safety. A signed diversion is in place for motorists.

If all goes well, they hope to finish the repairs and reopen Blackthorn Road by early next week. Fingers crossed!
