London: Crystal Palace is on the verge of signing Romain Esse from Millwall. The 19-year-old winger has caught the eye of many this season.
According to the South London Press, Palace is acting fast this January to secure Esse before summer competition heats up. Teams like Newcastle and Bournemouth are also interested, but it looks like Palace will get him first.
Palace’s sporting director, Dougie Freedman, has been keeping a close watch on Esse all season. The young talent has played 23 games in the Championship and has contributed to five goals.
Millwall’s manager, Alex Neil, mentioned that keeping Esse was a challenge, as he wanted to play regularly. He’s been one of their standout players this season, and losing him would be tough.
Neil added that if Esse does leave, it will be for a good amount of money, which would be a smart move for Millwall, especially since they could have lost him for nothing in the summer.
