Croydon: So, there’s this guy, Paul Martin, who’s in a bit of hot water. He’s 59 and has a crossbow, which is already a little sketchy, right? He’s been accused of using social media to stir up some serious trouble during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Apparently, he was posting in a Telegram group called “The Resistance UK” under the name “Perpetual Truth.” Sounds a bit dramatic, doesn’t it? Between December 2020 and September 2021, he was allegedly chatting about forming a militia and even attacking government officials and police.
On top of that, he’s facing charges for having a bunch of weapons, including a dagger, a knife, and two crossbows with arrows. That’s not exactly a good look. The authorities think he might have had plans for some pretty serious stuff.
He also had a stun gun, which he was caught with back in September 2021. When he showed up in court, he was dressed pretty sharp in a blue tie and dark coat, but it’s hard to look good when you’re facing these kinds of charges.
For now, he’s been given conditional bail and has to show up at the Old Bailey on January 31. He’s got to stay at home, not mess with his online stuff, and let the police check his devices. It’s a wild situation, and it’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out.
