Glasgow: Anthony Redpath, 42, was sentenced for his role in a brutal machete attack. He kept watch on James Sheridan after Sheridan was released from prison.

After his release, Sheridan was ambushed and suffered severe injuries. He even had to have his leg amputated due to the attack.

Redpath was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow. He admitted to conspiracy to assault Sheridan.

During the hearing, it was revealed that Sheridan had been part of a gang. He was jailed for drug possession and dirty cash.

While in prison, Sheridan wanted out of the gang. The gang boss blamed him for lost drugs and cash.

Prosecutor John McElroy said an order was given to assault Sheridan. Redpath didn’t know the full story but was aware of the attack.

On May 16, 2023, Redpath waited for Sheridan’s early release from HMP Low Moss. He followed Sheridan to a property in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire.

Redpath kept watch for hours. The gang leader called him multiple times before the attack.

Redpath’s guilty plea was accepted. He didn’t participate in the attack but knew it was happening.

The gang met in Bearsden before heading to Coatbridge. They broke into the house and found Sheridan with his partner.

They attacked both with machetes and swords. The gang fled as Sheridan’s partner called 999.

Sheridan suffered horrific injuries. Medics feared he wouldn’t survive. He lost his right leg and two fingers.

His partner also needed surgery and lost two fingers. Attempts to reattach them failed.

A video of Sheridan in the hospital went viral. He defiantly told his attackers they wouldn’t take his life.

Redpath was arrested on July 6, 2023. He claimed he was there to keep an eye on Sheridan.

His lawyer said Redpath wasn’t part of the gang before this incident. The judge reduced his sentence due to the guilty plea.

Another gang member, Ross Al-Gailani, was jailed for 16 years for his role in the attacks.
