Coventry, Cheshire, Theft, Fraud, Police
Coventry: A guy from Coventry thought he could pull off an easy theft by traveling over 100 miles to Cheshire. But things didn’t go as planned for Lorin Moga and his accomplice.
In October 2023, Moga’s partner, Iulian Vladu, teamed up with a younger accomplice, Geta Marin, to snatch a wallet from a shopper in Warrington. They were caught on CCTV, and the police quickly got to work.
Just days later, they were pulled over on the M62, but after being charged with theft, they managed to skip bail. Fast forward to September 2024, and Vladu was back in Warrington with Moga, ready to try their luck again.
This time, they distracted another man and made off with his wallet, which had £400 in cash and bank cards. They used those cards to withdraw a whopping £1,000. But the police were hot on their trail.
Thanks to more CCTV footage, they were arrested again in October. After being released on bail, they tried to flee to Ireland but were stopped by the police. Talk about bad luck!
Both Moga and Vladu eventually pleaded guilty to theft and fraud. They were sentenced to 16 weeks in jail at Warrington Magistrates’ Court. The police were pretty pleased with themselves for catching these guys.
PC Graham Davies pointed out that they thought they could get away with it just because they came from out of town. But the Warrington team was determined to bring them to justice.
Meanwhile, the hunt continues for Geta Marin, who is still on the run. If anyone knows where she is, they should definitely reach out to Cheshire Police.
