Coventry: UNESCO has picked Coventry and Warwick Business School for a global project. This project focuses on culture’s role in creating a sustainable future. Coventry City Council is also involved in this initiative.

The Culture 2030 Indicators Initiative measures how culture contributes to the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It helps monitor and evaluate culture’s impact on sustainable development.

Councillor Naeem Akhtar expressed pride in being part of this initiative. He noted that Coventry has many cultural organizations and artists. This collaboration with UNESCO is a significant step for global cultural sustainability.

The UK Department for Culture, Media, and Sport supports this partnership. By joining this project, Warwick Business School and Coventry aim to shape beneficial policies for communities worldwide.

Mark Scott, a research fellow at WBS, mentioned that the project includes various indicators. These assess cultural impact, from heritage preservation to education and participation.

Being part of this UNESCO project highlights Coventry’s legacy as a City of Culture. It also shows Warwick Business School’s commitment to using research for global change.
