Trial
The prosecutor explained that Mulchrone stabbed her partner with a carving knife. This happened after she threatened to harm herself.
They had been in a troubled relationship for four months. Earlier that night, they were out in Leeds with friends.
Mulchrone tried to make her partner jealous by dancing with other men. She also slapped him before he decided to leave.
He took a taxi home around 6 am. During the ride, Mulchrone called him, saying he was making a mistake by leaving.
She threatened him, saying, “I’m going to f***ing kill you.” She also mentioned damaging his car parked nearby.
After arriving at his mother’s house, he took her threats seriously. He went back to the caravan park to check on her.
When he got there, Mulchrone didn’t seem upset as she had claimed. Instead, they argued about her behavior and his decision to leave.
While he was in the bedroom, Mulchrone left the room. The prosecutor said she likely grabbed a knife during this time.
As he left the caravan, she followed him, yelling for her uncle. He tried to calm things down, but Mulchrone was angry.
She then pulled out the knife and stabbed him. He tried to grab it, but it went into his abdomen.
He fell to the ground, confused and in pain, asking, “What have you done that for, Courtney?”
Mulchrone’s uncle and a nearby woman helped him until the police arrived.
When officers got there, Mulchrone claimed he was strangling her, which led to her stabbing him.
A knife was found in the caravan, and the man was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery.
He had a serious injury to his liver but eventually stabilized and survived.
Mulchrone answered “no comment” during her police interview. The trial is still ongoing.
