Court Date Set for West Dulwich LTN Fight Against Lambeth Council
West Dulwich residents are challenging Lambeth Council over a new Low Traffic Neighbourhood scheme they claim was poorly consulted.

The LTN aims to cut down on traffic in the area using things like cameras and planters. But the group is challenging a specific LTN that blocks cars from entering or passing through between Rosendale and Norwood Road. They argue that the council ignored feedback from a survey where 67% of people said they didn’t like the plan.
WDAG also pointed out that the survey didn’t even let folks say they wanted no LTN at all. The council started talking about this LTN back in January 2022, and by February 2024, they rolled out a trial scheme.
The residents are hoping the court will throw out the council’s traffic orders, which would let cars back into the area. They feel pretty confident about their chances, saying they can show serious issues with how the LTN was developed and put in place.
On top of that, they’re also against a new controlled parking zone (CPZ) that makes residents pay for parking permits. Lambeth Council recently said they’re moving forward with the CPZ, which will run from noon to 2 PM on weekdays.
But the residents are pushing back, claiming the council is downplaying the local opposition. While the council said there was “some support” for the scheme, WDAG found that a whopping 93% of feedback was against it, with 88% not wanting any CPZ at all.
A spokesperson for the council said they’re trying to make the area safer and healthier, especially for kids and the elderly. They believe they’ve listened to the community and followed all the rules. They also mentioned they’d be doing another round of consultations based on feedback about the CPZ.
