Scarisbrick: A couple is in shock after discovering meat filled with razor blades in their garden, seemingly aimed at harming their dog, Perdie.

Aidan Kaunhoven was outside with Perdie when he noticed her sniffing some chorizo that had been tossed over their fence. Thankfully, he stopped her just in time.

Both Aidan and his wife Debbie were horrified to find sharp blades hidden in the meat. They suspect someone is deliberately targeting their two-year-old cockapoo.

This isn’t the first time they’ve faced such a scare. Just weeks earlier, Perdie almost ate sausage meat stuffed with nails. Aidan recalled finding a bucket of poisonous slug pellets in December, too.

“We were absolutely fuming,” Aidan said. “We always keep an eye on her, and I’m glad I caught her before she could eat anything harmful.”

They initially thought it might be a fox, but the situation seemed too dangerous for any animal. “It could have killed her. Why would someone do this? We’ve done nothing to anyone,” Aidan expressed his frustration.

He believes the culprit knows their routine and waits until they’re at work to strike. “They must know we have a dog in the garden,” he added.

Despite many dogs in the area, only Perdie seems to be targeted. “It’s baffling. We’ve lived here for three years, and it’s just creepy,” Aidan said.

The couple has alerted their neighbors, looked for CCTV footage, and contacted the police. “My neighbors said nothing like this has ever happened in 30 years. We just want to find this person,” Aidan concluded.

“What has Perdie done to deserve this? It’s unsettling. We shouldn’t have to check the garden every time she goes out.” A spokesperson from Lancashire Police confirmed they are investigating the matter.
