They were supposed to help her kid with travel arrangements when they started secondary school. But after a little incident on the way to school, the council just went ahead and suspended the child for two days without even talking to the mum first.
She took her kid to school anyway and complained, saying the council didn’t follow their own rules. The council initially defended their actions, but then the ombudsman stepped in. Turns out, they were in the wrong.
Now, they’ve been told to apologize and even pay the mum back for the taxi rides she had to make while her child was suspended. The council admitted they should’ve given a warning first.
They also need to show that their transport team has been trained properly after this whole mess. A spokesperson for the council said they’re committed to making sure families get the right support for their kids.
