East Cambridgeshire: The council might freeze council tax for the twelfth year. This proposal aims to help residents save money.

Cllr Anna Bailey, the Conservative leader, feels confident about balancing the budget. She believes they can manage finances for the next two years.

Officers suggested raising the council tax by the maximum allowed. This would mean a Band D household pays £147.14 in 2025-26, an increase of £5.

However, Cllr Bailey proposed freezing the tax instead. This would keep the Band D payment at £142.14 for another year.

She also asked for plans to find savings without raising taxes. Cllr Bailey is optimistic about presenting a balanced budget soon.

The final budget will be shared with councillors next month. If the freeze happens, residents may still see overall tax increases from other authorities.
