Council Issues Warning to Earlestown Property Over Disrepair Concerns
Earlestown residents raise concerns about a fire-damaged property, prompting council action to address its disrepair.
Earlestown, St Helens, Property Disrepair, Council Action, Section 215 Notice
Earlestown: So, there’s this property on Queens Street that got pretty messed up by a fire last year. People are really worried about how it’s been left since then.
Neighbors have been talking about how overgrown the place is, and it’s been a hot topic with St Helens Council. Terry Maguire, the local councillor, has been on it.
Cllr Maguire mentioned that they’ve sent loads of emails to the council about the property. After some legal hiccups, it looks like they’re finally doing something to help the folks living nearby.
The council has given the property owner and their next of kin a Section 215 notice. This is basically a legal way to say, “Hey, you need to fix this place up.”
They can issue this notice if a property is making the area look bad or bothering the neighbors. It’s a way to keep things nice in the neighborhood.
The notice tells the owner they have 21 days to get the property back in shape. If they don’t, the council can step in and do the work themselves.
Apparently, the delays have been all about the legal stuff and the fact that the property is privately owned. But it seems like things are finally moving forward.
