Gloucestershire: The council recently faced some heat after suggesting people try alternatives to dairy milk. They didn’t mean to upset anyone, especially local farmers.

The idea came up during their ‘Swaps in Seconds’ campaign. A spokesperson emphasized how much they value the local farming community and the great milk they produce. They really want folks to support local farmers, no matter how they buy their milk.

Councillor David Gray explained that the campaign is about making small, manageable changes. He mentioned that dairy contributes to methane emissions, so swapping out dairy milk for oat or soy milk occasionally could help the environment a bit.

He reassured everyone that they’re not against local dairy farmers. The goal is to encourage people to buy local while also considering small lifestyle changes that can make a difference. It’s all about balance, really.
