Ampfield: So, there’s this company called Horwill Carne Developments that wants to build two new houses in the area. They’re also planning to put in a bin, a cycle store, and a treatment plant.

The site is right within the settlement boundary, just south of Winchester Hill. It’s a decent-sized plot, about 1,239 square meters, and you can get to it via a private road off Winchester Road.

The local council, Test Valley Borough Council, is set to make a decision on this application on Tuesday, January 14. It’s a big deal for the community.

Interestingly, there was already an outline application approved for a detached house and garage, so this isn’t completely new territory.

Katie Savage, the case officer, mentioned in her report that the development seems fine overall. She believes it won’t negatively impact the area, the trees, or the neighbors.

However, the Ampfield Parish Council isn’t too thrilled about it. They raised concerns that the land was cleared before an ecology survey, which could affect local wildlife.

They also pointed out issues with parking and turning space for vehicles, drainage problems, and access for fire trucks. Plus, they think the new houses might not fit in well with the street’s vibe.

There are worries about privacy too, like overlooking neighbors’ properties. It’s definitely a mixed bag of opinions on this one!
