Manchester: So, it looks like Sue Cleaver, who’s been playing Eileen Grimshaw on Coronation Street, is calling it quits after 25 years. Can you believe it? She’s been a part of the show since 2000!

Eileen has had some wild storylines, especially with her sons, Jason and Todd, and that epic rivalry with Gail Platt. Those moments are definitely unforgettable.

Outside of the soap, Sue was on I’m A Celebrity in 2022 and even joined the Loose Women panel in 2024. She’s been busy!

According to reports, she’ll still be on the show until late Spring, but she’s ready to explore new projects. The good news is that Eileen won’t be killed off, so there’s always a chance for a comeback.

In her statement, Sue mentioned how grateful she is for her time on the show. She said, “I’ve had 25 privileged years of working on Coronation Street. It’s time to embrace change and live fearlessly.”

Coronation Street’s boss, Kate Brooks, expressed sadness over Sue’s departure, saying Eileen has been a key part of the show’s history. She’ll definitely be missed!

Interestingly, Sue’s exit comes right after Helen Worth, who played Gail Platt, left the show after 50 years. Sue shared how heartbroken she is about Helen leaving, calling her an extraordinary person.

It’s a big change for the show, but it sounds like Sue is ready for whatever comes next!
