Truro: Cornwall Council is working on a plan to set up ten modular homes near the Waitrose store. These homes are meant for young people who are struggling with homelessness.
The idea is to help those aged 18 to 25 who are transitioning from children’s services or leaving care. It’s a great step towards giving them a safe place to live.
They’re looking to place these one-bedroom SoloHaus units on land close to the Truro Cattle Market. There will also be a residents hub and a management office to support the young adults living there.
Previously, a similar plan was proposed, but it didn’t work out. Now, the design has been rethought to create a community vibe, which sounds promising.
The council is committed to reducing homelessness, and this project is part of that effort. It’s all about providing quality accommodation for young people in need.
The site is conveniently located near public transport and a large car park, making it easier for residents to get around. For more details, you can check out application PA24/09104.
In addition, there’s a proposal for 100 new affordable homes in Launceston, which is also exciting news for the area. Developers are seeking advice for this project, which could really help with housing needs.
So, it looks like Cornwall is making some positive moves to tackle homelessness and provide more affordable housing options. It’s definitely a step in the right direction!
