Cork GAA club leads tributes to kind young teacher who passed away after battle with illness

Cork: It’s a tough time for everyone in the community after the passing of Christine O’Brien. She was a beloved teacher and a bright light in many lives.

Christine, from Glanmire, passed away surrounded by her family at Marymount Hospice. She was just so loved by everyone. As a teacher at St Mary’s High School, she made a real impact on her students.

The Glanmire Ladies Football Club, where she played, shared a heartfelt tribute online. They mentioned how much she’ll be missed and how her smile lit up the room.

Many of her teammates and coaches chimed in with their own memories. One coach said she was an inspiration, and others talked about how welcoming she was to new players.

Parents of her students also shared how warm and kind she was. One parent recalled a trip where Christine’s joy and kindness shone through.
