Cops Launch Major Operation to Tackle Youth Crime Surge
Victoria Police have arrested 41 individuals in a crackdown on youth crime amid rising incidents of violent offenses in Melbourne

Melbourne: Victoria Police are on a roll, having nabbed 41 people in a big push against youth crime. This comes after a spike in violent burglaries, robberies, and car thefts in the area.
They’ve slapped a total of 150 charges on these folks, who range from 12 to 44 years old. Most of them are actually under 18, which is pretty alarming.
On New Year’s Day, police chased down six young people, aged 12 to 19, after getting reports of a robbery in Mornington Peninsula. It was quite the scene!
There’s even video footage showing one of the suspects getting tackled to the ground. It’s wild to see how young some of these alleged car thieves are.
Earlier on New Year’s Eve, four boys aged 13 to 17 were tracked by a police helicopter while driving a stolen Audi. Talk about a high-speed chase!
Police managed to stop the car using stop sticks to deflate the tires. They really pulled out all the stops for this operation.
Dog squads were also in on the action, catching a 17-year-old burglar trying to hide in Chelsea at 3 AM. No one was getting away that easy!
Thanks to the Police Air Wing, they were able to spot offenders hiding in backyards and sheds. It’s like a game of hide and seek, but the police always win.
Operation Trinity, which has been running since March 2023, is all about targeting burglars and car thieves at night. It’s one of the most well-resourced operations they’ve got.
Acting Superintendent Andrew McKee made it clear: if you think you can hide from the police, think again. They’re always watching, even while you’re sleeping!
