Conservatives Push for No-Confidence Vote by Late January

Ottawa: So, here’s the scoop. Conservative MP Jonathan Williamson is gearing up to kick off the New Year with a no-confidence vote that could shake things up for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. He’s planning to present this motion at a public accounts committee meeting on January 7.
After that, the committee will have a chance to debate it before sending it over to the House of Commons when they get back on January 27. If all goes according to plan, they could be voting on it as soon as January 30. And if it passes? We might be looking at an election pretty quickly.
Now, it’s worth noting that three previous no-confidence motions from the Conservatives didn’t go anywhere this fall. But things might be different now. NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has said he’s ready to support a vote to bring down the government, especially after Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland’s unexpected resignation.
