WIVELISCOMBE: So, there’s this plan to build 25 new homes in Wiveliscombe, and folks are pretty worried about it. If the plans go through, they’ll be at Greenway Farm on North Street, right on the edge of town.

But here’s the thing—lots of locals are already saying “no way!” They think adding more homes will just pile on the pressure for services and the roads, which aren’t exactly in great shape as it is.

Somerset Council is set to make a decision by early summer, so it’s a bit of a waiting game. The developers, Summerfield Developments, are trying to sell the idea that this site is a great opportunity for the village. They say it’ll have open spaces and fit nicely into the landscape.

But not everyone is convinced. William Lawrey, a local resident, pointed out some serious issues. He mentioned there’s no dentist, not enough parking, and the local primary school is already full. Plus, the roads leading to Taunton and Wellington are just not up to the task if more cars start rolling in.

He also highlighted that the nearby roads are narrow and dangerous, which is a big concern for everyone. It’s not just about the homes; it’s about how they’ll affect daily life in Wiveliscombe.

On top of that, Councillor Dave Mansell, who represents the area, is also against the plan. He believes it’ll just create more traffic in the town center and mess with the beautiful landscape.
