Concern Grows After Creeper Burglar Caught on CCTV in Newry
Residents are alarmed after a suspected burglar was filmed trying to break into homes and cars in Newry’s Courtney Hill area

The footage shows a man with a beard, wearing a heavy coat, lurking around at about 3 AM. Local police have confirmed they received reports of attempted vehicle thefts in that area.
Martin Grant, a resident, shared that his home CCTV recorded the whole thing. He’s been living there for three years and mentioned that break-ins have become a regular issue.
He’s worried that one day, things might escalate into a confrontation. Other residents have also chimed in on their community Facebook page, sharing more video evidence of the suspect.
The Ballinacraig Community Association is urging folks to lock their car doors and not leave valuables inside. They’re also asking anyone with information to reach out.
Local councillor Valerie Harte expressed her concerns, especially for the elderly residents who might feel scared with all this criminal activity happening around them. She’s encouraging neighbors to keep an eye on each other and be cautious about making false accusations.
