Hollesley: A recent community lunch at the village hall was a hit, thanks to a generous donation from Cllr James Mallinder. He contributed £7,500 from the Enabling Communities Budget to make it happen.
This event was all about bringing people together. It offered a warm space, a three-course meal, and a chance for everyone to connect, whether they were young or old. It was part of the Meet Up Mondays initiative.
Cllr Mallinder emphasized how important it is to support such gatherings, especially with many folks facing financial struggles. He believes that events like this can really help with community spirit and mental health.
“It’s crucial to bring people together,” he said. “With the cost-of-living crisis, a warm room and a hot meal can really lift spirits.”
After the meal, there was a raffle with prizes for everyone, which added to the fun. Cllr Mallinder took the opportunity to chat with residents about their local concerns, making the event even more special.
The lunch was organized by local resident Helen Lewis, who was thrilled with the support from Cllr Mallinder. She noted how vital it is to have a hot meal and a friendly chat.
