On Sunday, the Quekett Microscopical Club hosted the event at the information center. Kids searched the common for interesting things to study. They collected mosses, lichens, leaves, seeds, grasses, pine cones, and stones.
After gathering their finds, the children returned to the center. Alan Wood and Joan Bingley had prepared various nature slides for them to examine closely. They looked at coriander seeds, salt, bird feathers, and amber.
Club leader Auriel Glanville shared how fascinating the morning was. She thanked Alan and Joan for their insights into microscopy.
The next club session will focus on “Bird Feeders.” It’s on Sunday, March 2, from 10 am to 12 noon. Newcomers can register at 9:45 am. The event is free for kids aged 6-14, with donations welcome.
