Indianapolis: So, Anthony Richardson, the quarterback for the Colts, opened up about his back injury. He mentioned that it was way worse than what the coach had let on. It kept him out of the game against the Giants last week, and he’s worried it might be a long-term issue.
He didn’t practice on Wednesday, which was more of a light session anyway. Afterward, he talked about how tough things were for him. He said he couldn’t even stand up on Tuesday and was crawling around his house. But he’s determined to get back on the field.
Richardson said, “Last week was tough. I couldn’t even stand up.” It sounds pretty rough, right? He’s been dealing with back problems since he was in eighth grade and recently got an MRI that showed some disc issues.
He’s concerned that this might be a chronic problem, but he’s hopeful he won’t need surgery. He explained that it’s been a “disc thing” for a while, and it just flared up last week. He’s looking for ways to manage it better moving forward.
Richardson, who was the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, has had back issues since he was a teen. He always thought it was just muscle strain from working out. But what he felt last week was something else entirely.
As for whether he’ll play in the Colts’ final game, that’s still up in the air. He’s expected to practice on Thursday, so we’ll see how that goes. If he doesn’t play, his season wraps up with 1,814 passing yards, eight touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He missed a few games due to injuries and had some rough outings too.
