Ipswich: So, Coles is pulling kitchen knives from their shelves after a shocking incident. An employee got stabbed while working at a store in Yamanto Central. It’s a pretty serious situation.

The worker, Claudia Campomayor Watt, is 63 and was stabbed in the back. The knife used was taken right from the store. She’s currently in the hospital, critical but stable.

A 13-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder. It’s a tough situation for everyone involved, and Coles is taking this step out of caution while they review their policies.

They said safety is their top priority, and this decision reflects that. The state’s premier, David Crisafulli, is also under pressure to address youth crime, which he promised to tackle when he took office.

He’s been making promises about stricter laws for young offenders, but some experts are skeptical about whether these laws will actually help reduce crime.

In fact, the number of kids under 14 in adult police watch houses has shot up by 50% in just a year. It’s a complicated issue, and many are worried that tougher laws might just lead to more kids being locked up.

Crisafulli insists he’s focused on reducing crime victims, but it’s clear there’s a lot of debate about the best way to handle youth crime in Queensland.
