Cleethorpes: The Coastguard is sounding the alarm after some kids were spotted messing around on a frozen lake at Cleethorpes Country Park. Apparently, one of them was encouraged by friends to walk on the ice, which is super risky.

On Saturday, folks passing by saw the youth on the ice, and it raised some eyebrows. With the recent cold snap, the lake had frozen over, making it look tempting but dangerous.

Cleethorpes Coastguard took to social media to remind everyone to steer clear of the ice. They want people to have fun but also to be safe. They shared that they’ve had reports of kids falling through the ice before, which can lead to serious trouble.

In their Facebook post, they said they’re not trying to ruin anyone’s fun, but they care about safety. They mentioned a previous incident where a child fell through the ice, which led to a big emergency response. That’s a lot of stress for everyone involved!

They urged people to enjoy the outdoors but to stay off the ice. You never know how thick it is, and it doesn’t take much for someone to fall in. Thankfully, the youth got off the ice after a passerby shouted at him.

A spokesperson from North East Lincolnshire Council also chimed in, warning about the dangers of icy lakes and ponds. They stressed that frozen water can look inviting but is often very risky.

They advised everyone to keep their distance from frozen lakes and to make sure kids understand the dangers. Plus, keeping pets on leads is a good idea to prevent any accidents.

Even though the weather is expected to warm up soon, icy patches can linger, so it’s best to stay cautious. Safety first, right?
