Perth: The Perth Leisure Pool is still shut down because of a boiler problem. It’s been closed since Christmas, and the water’s been too cold for swimming.

When the temperatures dropped, the whole place, including the gym and health suite, was closed off on January 3. They thought they could reopen by January 13, but the boiler issue is still not sorted out.

In a Facebook update, they mentioned that they can’t guarantee the water and building temperatures are back to normal yet. So, they’re keeping the venue closed while engineers work on it.

They didn’t give a timeline for when it might be fixed but promised to update everyone early in the week of January 13. The building is nearly 40 years old, and it’s been having more frequent issues lately.

They thanked customers for their patience and apologized for the hassle. There’s also talk about replacing the pool with a new facility at Thimblerow, but it won’t have the same leisure water options.

Plus, kids’ swimming hours will be cut by over 30 hours a week, and there won’t be an ice rink to replace the one at Dewars Centre, which is also closing. It’s a bit of a mess, really.
