Cleveland: The Cleveland Tontine, located near Northallerton, has closed for renovations. A notice about the closure popped up online, leaving many diners and drinkers surprised.

The owners, Provenance Inns, who run several other spots in North Yorkshire, shared a short update on their website. They mentioned that the Tontine is undergoing some changes.

They said, “The Cleveland Tontine is currently closed for development. While this venue transforms, we’d love to welcome you to our other exceptional locations within the Provenance Collection.” Sounds like they’re excited about the updates!

As for how long the Tontine will be closed, that’s still a mystery. It’s not even listed on the Provenance Inn website anymore, which is a bit odd.

Last we checked, the most recent review on TripAdvisor was from September 2024, and their Facebook page hasn’t seen a post since August 2024. Seems like they’ve been quiet lately.

Provenance Inns also owns a bunch of other places like The Oak Tree Inn and The Punch Bowl Inn, so they’ve got plenty of options for folks looking for a good meal.

Despite the closure, the Cleveland Tontine has a solid reputation, boasting a four-star rating on both TripAdvisor and Google Reviews from over 1,000 diners. That’s impressive!

The Northern Echo has reached out to the Provenance Inn collection for more details. We’ll keep an eye out for updates!
