Shepherds Bush: A café in West London is facing some serious trouble. Police found khat, a Class C drug, there not once but twice. This could mean the café might lose its license.

The café, 97-98 Sports Café, is a popular spot for locals, especially those from Eritrea and Egypt. The owner, Samuel Tseguy, insists he doesn’t sell or use khat. He describes the place as a community hub, kind of like your neighborhood pub.

The police got involved after they discovered customers with khat on March 22 and again on November 5. In both cases, Tseguy wasn’t around. Officers said it seemed like people didn’t know khat was illegal, so they took it away and gave some advice.

Now, the council is looking into whether to revoke the café’s license. Tseguy is worried and hopes the council will see it’s not his fault. He feels caught in the middle of a tough situation. The decision will be made at a meeting next Tuesday, January 21.
