San Francisco: Chris Paul is still all about the game. You can really see how much it means to him, especially after he passed Jason Kidd for second all-time in assists. Even in his 20th season, he’s got that fire, playing for a young team aiming for the play-in tournament.
So, what’s the deal with retirement? Tony Parker asked him about it in a recent interview. Paul said, “Maybe a year or two. I’m still trying to feel it out.” He loves playing, but there’s a bit of a struggle when he gets home and has to watch his kids’ games on the iPad instead of being there in person.
As the trade deadline approaches, people are buzzing about where he might go. Teams looking for a solid point guard will definitely consider his $10.5 million contract. But Paul isn’t keen on being a backup. He wants to play.
He mentioned that last year with the Warriors was tough for him. “I just love to hoop. I wanna play,” he said. If he’s going to be away from his family, he wants to be on the court, not sitting on the bench.
Paul’s full chat with Parker is definitely worth a watch. As for when he’ll step away from the NBA, it sounds like it’s not happening just yet.
