Main Beach: Recently, police released some pretty shocking CCTV footage. It shows two masked guys pouring something flammable on homes right before New Year’s Eve.
The video captures these two figures, and the police think they might help crack the case on three arson attacks that happened in a row. All of this went down in Main Beach, Queensland.
According to the police, these two men were dressed in dark clothes and targeted a house on Hughes Ave late at night on December 28, 29, and 30.
They believe an accelerant was used to ignite a fire at the front of the house each time, and during the last incident, a car parked inside also caught fire.
Interestingly, two of the fires are linked to a silver Mitsubishi Outlander that was reported stolen from Brisbane on Christmas Eve.
Detective Inspector Craig Bowman from the Organised Crime Gangs Group mentioned that while the damage was limited to property, it doesn’t make the crime any less serious.
Thankfully, no one got hurt during these incidents, but it’s still a big deal. The same house was hit all three times, which is pretty alarming.
Police are asking anyone who might have seen something or has footage from the Tedder Ave and Hughes Ave areas between 10 PM and midnight on those nights to come forward.
They’ve also figured out that a red 5L Scepter jerry can was used in all three arson cases.
Detective Inspector Bowman is urging anyone who sold that type of jerry can recently or saw someone filling one up to reach out to the police.
Investigations are still ongoing, and they’re hoping to get to the bottom of this soon.
