Bovey Tracey: Primary school kids are making a difference! They’ve been busy creating posters to help Devon and Cornwall Police tackle hate crime.

The local police teamed up with Year 6 students from Bovey Tracey Academy to explain what hate crime is and how it affects people. It’s all about raising awareness, you know?

The kids drew some really cool posters to show the different types of hate crime and how to report them. PCSO Paul Wilson led the project and even visited the school with Inspector Sean Roper to hand out certificates to the kids.

PCSO Wilson said it’s important to have these conversations early. It helps shape how kids grow up and how they treat others. He wants to build a community based on respect and diversity.

The project was a great way to connect with the students and teach them about inclusivity and kindness. They even had an interactive session where they learned about protected characteristics and what to do if they face hate crime.

Two of the posters made by the kids will be used in future campaigns to raise awareness in the area. Police Constable Ruth Lee helped pick the best ones and was impressed by how engaged the kids were.

She mentioned that it’s a chance for police to support schools in educating about hate crime and its impact. It’s all about empowering kids to understand their actions and how they affect others. How cool is that?
