Gravesend Child Rapist Sentenced After Over a Decade of Abuse

Gravesend: A man named Wayne Traill has been sentenced for some truly awful crimes. He abused kids for over ten years, and now he’s facing more than 20 years in prison.
Traill was found guilty of 21 different offenses. The court heard that he started targeting kids back in the 1990s and went on to exploit more than one victim. He even told them that no one would believe them if they spoke up.
It all came to light when the police were notified in March 2022, leading to Traill’s arrest. He didn’t say much during questioning and initially denied everything in court.
This 52-year-old guy from Northfleet eventually admitted to his crimes just before his trial at Woolwich Crown Court. He pleaded guilty to serious charges like rape and sexual assault. On December 19, 2024, he was sentenced to 21 years behind bars.
The judge didn’t hold back, saying Traill had ‘groomed and abused’ his victims and labeled him a ‘dangerous sexual offender.’ When he gets out, he’ll be on a strict license for eight years and will stay on the sex offenders register forever.
Detective Constable Daniel Grant led the investigation and spoke about the damage Traill caused. He emphasized how Traill used fear to get what he wanted and how his actions will haunt the victims for a long time. Grant also praised the bravery of the victims for coming forward, which helped bring Traill to justice.
