Cheshire: New data from the Home Office shows a big jump in drug seizures. The total reached 3,282 during this period. This is a significant increase from last year.

Among these seizures, 704 were class A drugs, 2,521 were class B, and 74 were class C. There were also 113 seizures of unclassified drugs.

This rise is due to Cheshire Police’s strong efforts against serious crime. They are actively working to dismantle drug networks and county lines.

One example is Operation Onion in Warrington. This operation uses drones to find heat sources linked to cannabis growth.

Last March, officers raided a vacant pub in Warrington. They found and seized 720 cannabis plants during this operation.

The Creamfields music festival in Daresbury also saw increased drug seizures. This was part of the police’s proactive strategy during the event.

The roads and crime unit has been busy too. They are working with neighboring forces to tackle drug trafficking on the roads.

Cheshire Police has recorded a 160% increase in drug seizures compared to last year. This is the highest number since 2006.

Chief Superintendent Alison Ross stated that these results show their commitment to fighting drug trafficking. They aim to protect communities from the harm caused by illegal drugs.

She emphasized the need to stay ahead of organized criminals. Cheshire’s location between major cities makes it a target for drug supply lines.

Ross assured that they will continue to disrupt these criminal activities. The message is clear: if criminals come to Cheshire, they will be caught.
