Chelmsford: So, there was this wild scene in court where a guy named Benjamin Bishop just lost it. He called the judge all sorts of names, like a “dirty rat” and even threatened to stab him and his kids. This all went down during a hearing on January 7.

Bishop, who’s 32 and from Burgess Field, was really upset because the judge wouldn’t consider his bail application. He was on a video link from prison and just exploded when he didn’t get the answer he wanted.

After the judge refused bail, Bishop told him to “go f*** yourself” and then went off on a rant, calling him a “posh c***” and saying he’d stab him. It got pretty intense, and he even threatened the judge’s children before they muted him.

When he finally got a chance to speak again, he admitted he was in a bad place and apologized. He mentioned he’s been diagnosed with cancer and is dealing with autism, which makes things tough for him.

He explained that he thought it was a bail hearing and got frustrated when it wasn’t. The judge, Christopher Morgan, said that while Bishop’s threats seemed more like a verbal outburst, it was still serious. Disrupting court like that isn’t taken lightly.

In the end, Bishop got a three-month prison sentence, but it’s suspended for 18 months. So, if he keeps his cool and doesn’t get into more trouble, he won’t have to serve time.
