Decatur: The weather’s looking a bit wild this weekend. So, we’re wrapping up the year with some warmer temps, but there’s a chance of storms, flooding, and even tornadoes from Saturday night into Sunday morning. A forecaster mentioned that we might see highs in the low 50s and lows in the low 30s, which is pretty warm for this time of year.

Huntir Cramer, a meteorologist from the National Weather Service, said we’re about 10 to 15 degrees above normal right now. But don’t get too comfy; normal temps will be back soon. On Friday morning, they were keeping an eye on some showers moving through north Alabama, but thankfully, those were just showers with no lightning expected.

However, there are some gusty winds blowing at 30 to 35 mph, especially in northeast Alabama. So, if you’re out and about, be careful! As for the weekend, Decatur is at a risk level of 2 out of 5 for severe weather. That means we could see damaging winds, a tornado or two, and maybe some hail.

Cramer mentioned that while they’re not super confident about the severity, the most intense weather could hit between 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 a.m. Sunday. There might be multiple rounds of storms, so it’s a good idea to stay updated and keep an eye on the weather. Stay safe out there!
