Chad Bullock to take over as head of Paul Bunyan Communications

Bemidji: Chad Bullock is a well-known figure in the Bemidji area. He’s taking the reins at Paul Bunyan Communications, and it feels like a homecoming for him.

He graduated from Bemidji State University, and two of his kids were born here while he worked at Blackduck Telephone Company. “So we feel like we’re moving home,” he shared.

Bullock joined the cooperative a year ago, learning from Gary Johnson, the outgoing CEO. He’s grateful for the mentorship and is eager to apply what he’s learned.

Originally from Remer, Minnesota, he studied technology at Minnesota State Community and Technical College. His career kicked off in Iowa, but he found his way back to Minnesota, working at Blackduck Telephone for 12 years before managing other companies.

Now, he’s excited to lead Paul Bunyan Communications as they aim to expand broadband access to areas that need it. “Our focus will still be on areas that don’t have service,” he said, emphasizing the commitment to community.

Bullock is also looking forward to continuing Johnson’s legacy in serving the Bemidji community and the telecommunications sector. “He has always carried the Paul Bunyan Communications banner wherever he went,” Bullock noted, acknowledging the big shoes he has to fill. But he’s confident that the strong team and consistent vision will carry on.
