Mumbai: The work to convert Nahur railway station into a double-discharge platform has finally kicked off. This station is crucial for the Airoli road connector and has seen a rise in passengers, making the upgrade necessary.

The new platform will be the main one for the station, giving better access from the west side, which is pretty cramped right now. Central Railway has plans to finish this additional platform along with two others at Diva and Vidyavihar during the 2023-24 financial year.

Recent stats show that Nahur station sells about 69,060 tickets on average, and that number is likely to keep climbing. Right now, the west side has just a narrow public path and an entrance to a private company, so this upgrade is much needed.

They’re also working on widening the existing road bridge at the station. Just so you know, Nahur station opened its doors back on April 21, 2006, and it’s about time it got a facelift!
