Celtic Connections Set for Record Year Despite Éowyn’s Challenges
Celtic Connections festival saw 110,000 attendees and 125 sold-out shows, showcasing global talent and community spirit.

Around 1,500 musicians from 40 countries participated in nearly 300 events across 24 venues. The festival also saw a record 620 sign-ups for its Celtic Rovers scheme, rewarding loyal fans.
More than 7,000 students attended special concerts and workshops at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. Every primary 7 pupil in Glasgow got music workshops, too.
Donald Shaw, the festival’s Creative Producer, reflected on the joy and connections created during the event. He thanked everyone involved, from the team to the artists and audiences.
Shaw noted that while the festival ends, it sparks creativity and community that lasts beyond the event. He hopes everyone felt the festival’s vibrant spirit and looks forward to next winter.
Bailie Annette Christie, Chair of Glasgow Life, praised the festival for showcasing Glasgow as a UNESCO City of Music. She highlighted the magical performances and diverse events that make Celtic Connections special.
Alan Morrison from Creative Scotland said the festival provided a great soundtrack to January. He celebrated the city’s talent and the festival’s financial support for the next three years.
Culture Secretary Angus Robertson congratulated everyone involved, emphasizing the festival’s role in celebrating Scotland’s cultural heritage and uniting people through music.
