North London: A cat owner had to sell some of his Taylor Swift memorabilia to pay a hefty vet bill after his cat swallowed a Nerf bullet. Nikos Manesis, 28, said his cat Sock is like his child. He realized something was wrong when Sock started vomiting on New Year’s Eve.
Nikos rushed Sock to the vet, where they found out he needed emergency surgery. The whole thing was pretty stressful, but he was relieved to have Sock back home the next day. The total vet bill came to over £4,000, and since he didn’t have insurance, he had to get creative to cover the costs.
To help pay for the vet bills, Nikos set up a GoFundMe and sold some of his Taylor Swift collectibles, raising about £1,050. He learned a tough lesson about pet insurance and is now super careful about keeping his home safe for Sock and his brother Bob.
Nikos shared how much he cares for Sock, saying he would do anything to take care of him. He’s had Sock and Bob since they were kittens, and being apart from Sock was really hard for him. Sock has always been a bit of a troublemaker, so it wasn’t surprising when he ended up swallowing something he shouldn’t have.
After the surgery, the vet confirmed they removed the Nerf bullet, and Nikos was so happy to have Sock back home. He even had to buy a little jacket for Sock since he wouldn’t wear a cone. The whole experience made Nikos realize just how much he loves his furry friend.
Now, he’s telling other pet owners to get insurance. If he had it, the whole situation would have been a lot less stressful. He’s grateful for the support he received and is just glad to have Sock back to his old self.
