Stroud: Last week, a poor cat named Mittens got shot in the eye with an air rifle. Can you believe it? She was just outside, minding her own business, when she came back home all upset.

Her owner found her around 4:15 PM on January 9, and it was clear something was seriously wrong. Mittens, only two years old, was taken to the vet right away.

The vet discovered an air rifle pellet stuck in her eye, which they sadly couldn’t save. They had to perform emergency surgery to remove it.

Now, the Stroud Neighbourhood Policing Team is on the case. They’ve been going door to door, asking if anyone saw anything suspicious.

If you were around that area and noticed anything odd or have any CCTV footage, the police would love to hear from you. You can fill out a form online or just call 101 with the incident number.

Let’s hope they find out who did this and keep our furry friends safe!
