Logansport: So, there was this serious incident early this morning. The Indiana State Police are looking into a police shooting that ended with a man from Logansport losing his life.
It all started around 12:23 a.m. when deputies were called to a home on W. County Road 500 S. They were responding to reports of two people who had been stabbed.
When they got there, they found one victim and tried to help. But while one deputy was getting more medical supplies, he saw a guy named Christopher S. Evans, 35, with knives. The deputy told him to drop the weapons, but Evans didn’t listen, and things escalated quickly.
Evans charged at the deputy, who had to back away into a field. That’s when the deputy fired his weapon, hitting Evans at least once.
Sadly, despite efforts to save him, Evans died right there at the scene. His family has been notified. One of the stabbing victims is in critical but stable condition, while the other is expected to recover.
Luckily, no deputies were hurt during this whole ordeal. The deputy involved is on administrative leave, which is standard practice after such incidents.
The Indiana State Police are in charge of the investigation, with help from the Carroll County Coroner and Prosecutor’s Office. They’re still looking into everything, and we won’t hear more until they wrap it up. Once they finish, they’ll send their findings to the prosecutor for review.
As of now, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office hasn’t released any statements about what happened.
