Oxford: Carrie Johnson has been in the hospital for almost a week dealing with flu and pneumonia. She shared her experience on Instagram, saying she had a tough time breathing and is still not fully recovered after nearly a month of illness.
At just 36, she mentioned it might take a few more weeks before she feels like herself again. Carrie didn’t expect to kick off 2025 in a hospital bed, especially after battling a nasty chest infection for 18 days over Christmas.
She confirmed that the hospital diagnosed her with flu and pneumonia, and even though she spent nearly a week there, she’s still on the mend. Carrie is currently getting care at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and had nothing but praise for the NHS staff, calling them “the best of us.”
She expressed her gratitude, saying they took great care of her and her family when they needed it most. One nurse even sang to her when she was feeling low, which she found incredibly kind.
In her post, Carrie also urged everyone eligible to “get the bloody flu jab,” admitting she wished she had done so herself. She and Boris Johnson, her husband and former Prime Minister, have three kids together and live in a lovely home in Oxfordshire.
While in the hospital, she shared some cute photos of gifts from her children, like a toy dinosaur from Wilfried and a keyring from Romy. Carrie’s career in politics began with Zac Goldsmith, and she’s been a strong advocate for environmental and animal welfare issues since leaving her role as head of communications for the Tories.
