San Francisco: The Hall of Fame is about to get some serious talent. The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame just dropped its list of eligible candidates for 2025, and wow, it’s impressive.
Carmelo Anthony is right at the top. Remember when he led Syracuse to that NCAA Championship in 2003? He was the No. 3 pick in that legendary draft with LeBron and Dwyane Wade. Melo was a scoring machine, averaging 22.5 points per game and snagging six All-NBA selections along the way.
Then there’s Dwight Howard. Some younger fans might only know him from his later years with the Lakers, but he was a beast in his prime. Three-time Defensive Player of the Year and an eight-time All-Star, he’s definitely a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
And we can’t forget Sue Bird. She’s a total legend in women’s basketball. With two NCAA titles, five Olympic golds, and four WNBA championships, her resume is just insane.
Maya Moore is another name that stands out. She’s got two NCAA titles, four WNBA championships, and an MVP award under her belt. Talk about a powerhouse!
Other notable names include Doc Rivers, Billy Donovan, and Sylvia Fowles. The list is packed with talent, and it’s exciting to see who will make the final cut.
John L. Doleva, the Hall of Fame President, said it best: this class represents a wide range of achievements in basketball. The finalists will be announced on February 14 during NBA All-Star Weekend, and the official class will be revealed on April 5 during the NCAA Final Four.
