Carlisle: A computer shop is making waves by rewarding locals for recycling their old tech. Cache4 IT Solutions is running a cool initiative this month.
They’re all about helping the environment and the community. The family-owned shop is encouraging folks to drop off their old gadgets and get a little something in return.
Paul Crooks, the managing director, mentioned that after the holiday season, many people find themselves with drawers full of unused devices. Instead of tossing them in the trash, why not recycle?
They’re calling January “recycle your tech month.” It’s a great way to declutter and do something good for the planet. Residents can bring in smartphones, tablets, laptops, and more, no matter their condition.
As a thank you, everyone who participates will snag a £5 store voucher. It’s a win-win situation! Plus, with all the new tech people get during the holidays, it’s the perfect time to clear out the old stuff.
Cache4 is also hosting free tech drop-in sessions every Saturday this month. Paul said tech can be a bit daunting, especially for those who aren’t as tech-savvy.
They want to help everyone feel comfortable with their new gadgets, whether it’s a smartphone or a laptop. Residents can pop into the shop for one-on-one support.
All gadgets are welcome, and the goal is to boost everyone’s confidence with their tech. Paul expressed pride in starting 2025 with initiatives that support both the community and the environment.
Cache4 is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm and Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm in Lowry Hill, Carlisle. No appointment is needed for the recycling or tech help sessions.
