Midlothian: So, there’s this really disturbing case that just came to light. A care assistant named Jose Herreros has been sentenced for shaking a nine-week-old baby, leaving the poor little one with 11 fractured bones. Can you believe that?
This guy, only 26 years old, was supposed to be looking after the baby while the mom was in the hospital. But instead, he grabbed the baby and shook him hard enough to cause serious injuries. It’s just heartbreaking.
It all came to light when a health worker noticed bruises on the baby’s face during a routine check. They rushed the baby to the hospital, where doctors found even more injuries. They did some tests and discovered the baby had multiple fractures. It’s just so sad.
In court, Herreros admitted to what he did. The judge, Sheriff Christopher Dickson, didn’t hold back, calling it a very serious offense. He got 21 months in jail and a three-year ban from contacting the child. Honestly, it’s the least he could get for such a horrific act.
What’s even more chilling is that Herreros later emailed the police, admitting to shaking the baby. He even said he didn’t think it was that hard. It’s just mind-boggling how someone could do that to a defenseless child.
Thankfully, the baby has made a full recovery and is now in a safe foster home. But it’s a reminder of how important it is to protect our little ones from harm.
