Whaplode Drove, WH Brand, Car Dealership, 100 Years, Family Business
Whaplode Drove: A family-run business is celebrating 100 years today. WH Brand started in a rented shed back in 1925. Bill Brand sold petrol, lamps, and bicycles from that small space.
Now, WH Brand is a large MG dealership. It has grown a lot over the years. Adam Brand, Bill’s great-great-grandson, is the sales manager today. The business is now in its fifth generation.
Adam’s father, Martyn, is still involved. His grandfather, Fred, also played a big role. There’s a lot of history in this family business.
Bill started selling motorcycles because they were more affordable. By 1938, he was known as a good mechanic and salesman. He bought a house with three acres and built a garage there.
Today, the sales team includes Martyn, Adam, and his nephew Callum. They plan a small celebration at the showroom. Everyone is welcome to join for coffee and cake.
In the summer, they will host a bigger barbecue event for all customers. WH Brand is well-known in the Fens for its loyalty to customers.
Adam appreciates the long-term customers. Many return because of the great service. The focus has always been on looking after customers.
