Perla, the ‘People’s Princess,’ Aims for a Fashion Takeover Post-Elimination
After her elimination on ‘Canada’s Drag Race,’ Perla is ready to take the fashion world by storm

Toronto: Perla, the drag star from Toronto, shone brightly on Season 5 of Canada’s Drag Race. Sadly, she didn’t make it to the finale. But hey, she’s got plenty to celebrate from her journey.
“They’re calling me the People’s Princess,” she shared with Yahoo Canada. “I’ll take that Diana title with pride.”
In her last episode, Perla faced some tough feedback. Brooke Lynn Hytes critiqued her runway look, and judge Brad Goreski suggested she could share more of herself during the talk show challenge.
“I think I was just zoning out,” Perla admitted about the critiques. “I took it one day at a time, wanting to soak in every moment. No matter how it ended, I had a blast.”
She reflected on her stunning outfits, especially her Alien Superstar and Time and Place looks, which hold a special place in her heart.
“Alien took three and a half weeks of hand beading, and my partner helped. It was a love letter to us,” she explained. “Time and Place was made from Shein and Value Village finds, and my best friend and I had a blast creating it.”
Last week, the contestants received messages from home, and Perla was thrilled to see a video from her partner and dog.
“At that point, we hadn’t seen our loved ones in ages. It was so heartwarming to see them, especially since I was feeling homesick,” she said.
Now that she’s been through the Drag Race experience, Perla realizes how many misconceptions people have about the show.
“The internet can be wild, with people thinking they know everything. It’s a pressure cooker,” she noted.
“You think you’ll do great, but it’s way harder than it looks. You just hope you don’t mess up.”
Looking ahead, Perla is ready for a “fashion takeover.”
“I want to be at fashion shows, on red carpets, and at the Met Gala. Who wants to dress me? I’ll even pay for my flight!” she exclaimed. “Just give me a high chair beside the table!”
