Canada says it has border under control just ahead of Trump inauguration

Ottawa: So, here’s the scoop. Public Safety Minister David McGuinty just announced that Canada is stepping up its border game big time. They’re adding 60 new drones and deploying two helicopters this week. Sounds like they’re really serious about keeping things secure.

McGuinty shared these updates just five days before Trump takes office. The government wants to show they mean business, especially after Trump’s threats about tariffs unless Canada and Mexico get a grip on migrants and drugs.

They’ve even promised a whopping $1.3 billion for border upgrades. But lately, it seems like the focus has shifted from border issues to trade deficits, especially with Trump hinting at a 25% tariff on Canadian imports right off the bat.

To tackle this, the RCMP is setting up an aerial task force for constant surveillance. They’ll be using helicopters, drones, and surveillance towers to keep an eye on things.

Oh, and there’s more! Canada is also getting its first-ever border preclearance operation at Cannon Corners, New York. It’s all happening pretty fast!
